What is the World Pork Expo and Why is it a premier event?
The National Pork Producers Council is an organization that was built to ensure that producer advocacy could be streamlined and animal and producer protections could be implemented to ensure progress could be made with good oversight and the potential for growth and stability in the industry. In their own words: “The National Pork Producers Council, representing 42 affiliated state associations, works to ensure that the U.S. pork industry remains a consistent and responsible supplier of high-quality pork to domestic and international markets.”
Their annual event to showcase producers and affiliated companies, is the World Pork Expo, now held on-site yearly at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. This is an important event because it represents on a macro-level, the majority of pork producers across the country. It is important from a more granular perspective because it showcases educational, market related, and implementation products for industry stakeholders.
What does that mean? It means that there is no bigger organized event to help with networking, marketing, education and help for members in a single place. If you’re in the business of Pigs, you should be considering attending the event!
It is also a longstanding and well-known event organized by the largest organization in the industry for producers. At World Pork Expo, industry peers can network together, learn from each other in educational breakout sessions and large format presentations, and see innovations, products, and ancillary service providers in-person. Financial programs, educational opportunities and hand-ons experience with real world products and tools, makes this in-person event an important option for those who work in the industry at all levels. Also, there is the BBQ!
The breadth of vendors and attendees makes it a valuable way to connect in the community, and the focused theme helps to ensure the maximum effect is achieved by attending. We are one of those vendors!
ADA Enterprises and the company history at World Pork Expo
ADA Enterprises is a long-standing provider of plastisol coated animal flooring that assists businesses in the pork production industry in maintaining high yields of healthy, quality animals. The engineering, materials and ongoing customer support makes the company a leader in flooring solutions for pig programs throughout the United States.
Our company was founded by Allan and JoAnn Stensrud in 1974. Their son, Tom Stensrud, is our current President and CEO, who, by the way, has attended every single World Pork Expo!
ADA Enterprises is based in Northwood, Iowa, only 2 hours or so from the beautiful Iowa State Fairgrounds. It’s a natural fit, considering the wide range of customers we work with to improve pig health and throughput in the pork industry, that we would attend the show yearly. We are a proud vendor partner.
Remembering past events
Since we’ve had management representation at all of the events, we’ve seen a few interesting things throughout the years. One year, back before the Varied Industries Building was temperature-controlled, the weather was unseasonably cold.
The sweater and jacket vendors had a hot product that year! Their sell-out success, thanks to that year’s frigid weather may have helped to convince state fair organizers to install climate controlled systems in the structure. Sometimes it is super cold, and sometimes it is super hot outside.
Looking back at it now in the comfort of the cozy interior, it reminds us how far this event has come over the years and how well-suited the Iowa state fairgrounds are for such an event.
If you didn’t know: the World Pork Expo in the early years moved between sites in Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa. We love that it’s found a permanent residency in Iowa!

Some tips for finding the best pork to eat at the show
The show really prioritizes great pork – And the food is incredible! No one does it quite like the Pork Producers! They know exactly how to get mouth watering pork into the mouths of show attendees. You can find the Big Grill south of the Varied Industries Building, which showcases different producers in the Pork Producers Council serving up awesome creations throughout the Expo.
In the past we have tried pork chops, loin, BBQ ribs, pulled pork and a bunch of other interesting offerings; all FREE! We highly recommend congregating around the Big Grill when your stomach starts to growl.

We will be at Booth 578 located in the Varied Industries Building, we’ve been in the same location for about 15 years! It just feels right. You can find a map of the fairgrounds here.
